A 5 day, 4 night retreat

for memoir writers & novelists.

The Journey to Jupiter Writing Retreat offers time away from day to day responsibilities, the camaraderie and support of other writers, and sessions to help writers gain the skill and understanding they need to tell their story.

Writers will learn and grow via:

  • Discussions of assigned readings

  • Sessions with exercises on character, plot, structure, language, description, and setting

  • Honest conversation about writing process and practice, how to work through blocks, and the role of community

  • 1:1 sessions with instructors focused on each writer’s unique challenges

  • Solo time to reflect, integrate, and write

This retreat is designed for committed writers who have completed a draft of a book project or want to.

Some writers arrive with a full manuscript they don’t know what to do with; others arrive with a project in mind but an obstacle or stuckness preventing them from forward progress.

What matters is not what you are writing or how much you’ve written, but your commitment to thoughtful, authentic storytelling.

The retreat was brilliantly structured–an expert combination of some lecture, lots of active full-group work, small group work, and structured assignments for the personal writing time.”

“I LOVED THIS RETREAT.

I really appreciated the thought that went into it,
the advance communication including personalized emails, the structure and schedule,
the skillful facilitation and community building.”

“I was hoping that the retreat would inspire me to keep writing after a summer hiatus. It did!! And I'm excited to be working on my book again. In addition, I feel much clearer about how to proceed because the writing exercises and book discussions served to clarify so many points for me.”

I felt safe.

There was a welcoming sense of community

from the start and throughout.

That allowed me to arrive, rather quickly, to a place of self-actualization about myself as a writer, my writing, and the writing process.

In short, it was transcendent.”

“It was an amazing experience to spend the weekend in such a nurturing environment surrounded by like-minded writers.”
